  1. In “Automobile”, the author of the article stated that the first ever automobile was crafted by a frenchman, Nicolas Joseph Cugnot, however his automobile was never put to productions due to its lack of speed and was harder to operate than a horse pulling a wagon. Later a German engineers, Gottlieb Daimler and Karl Benz invented an improve automobile with an engine that runs on gasoline and with four-speed transmission, much faster than Cugnot’s invention, however it was not mass-produced. Finally the first automobile to be produced in quantity was the 1901 Curved Dash Oldsmobile, made in USA and was mass produced and gave the credit for the first automobile to Henry Ford. Throughout the decade, the automobile had a major social and economic impact on American life.

Personally i think the automobile should be credited by Nicolas Joseph Cugnot because it was a legit steam powered automobile that worked and was the first before Henry Ford’s T model. Even though Ford took the credit, we would not have the individual transportation and the freedom of going placed far from our homes thanks to Henry Fords automobile, an impact to our lives today.

  2. In the movie,Star Trek Generations,Written by Ronald D Moore and Brannon Braga, the beginning of the movie foreshadows the climax when the Enterprise-B receives a distress call from refugee transports that are stuck in a strange anomaly, where admiral Kirk disappears.70 years later The Federation starship U.S.S. Enterprise-D is investigating a distress call at a research station, when the Enterprise responds, the situation spins wildly out of control, suddenly a whole star system is threatened! This movie is a example of the hero’s journey, although it is not calling upon a single character, but a crew of 1012 individuals to save the day. The meaning of this movie is that no matter what you have gone through, no matter what you have lost, you must move on or else you will be consumed by whatever it was that happened. The audience of this movie would be people interested in science fiction films or space.

Personally this is one of my favorite movies!! I think that while this movie has a larger budget than any of the shows productions,It stays true to the trek canon/meta,unlike the late Star Trek reboots.

  3. Anangelica Monroy

Kendrick Lamar in his revealing album Good Kid, M.A.A.D. City has him opening up about his feelings and thoughts of growing up in Compton,CA . He talks about all of his demons and the negativity that surrounded his city and how he had to let them go . Kendrick seemed to have vented all of his stories that were untold . In his song “ Sing about me,I’m dying of thirst” he speaks of women who he has encountered one who loved his brother and who had a future when his brother passed and the demon that was on his back that told him to get the guys that got his brother. He hoped that someone would find love in him like the woman loved his brother .And another woman in the same song was an alternate of the one before because she was a girl who got involved sexually with another man and he exploited her , making her seem like a whore making no man give her respect but demanding sexual favors, she’s stuck with this lifestyle because they gave it to her and now is on drugs. He fears that there are no real women or very few to teach women how to be a woman . Another song called “The Art of Peer Pressure” tells us about his attitude when he is with his friends and how it alters his behavior because he is with them. In the song he has snippets of his “friends” I would assume speaking about how they are down for one another . This shows me what he is exactly titling the song , the results in peer pressure. How it makes him a different person that he would never be without being with those people . The intended audience must be the people growing up in the same set of circumstances he acquired ,

“Show women , how to be a woman “ That statement stuck with me , because in modern day you see the same going on and it happens here as well and you wonder why it’s an ongoing issue but it’s more of a cycle amongst your families. I enjoyed this album much more the second time around because the meanings shifted and became something much more significant .I’d love to talk more about the whole album but felt that knowing it myself was good enough .

  4. Rhetorical Précis:
Bruno Mars, a talented pop artist, portrays a variety of emotions and meanings in his album, Doo-Wops & Hooligans because he believes that love is powerful. He expresses this by describing how much he loves someone and will do anything for them. In Order to show his love, he exaggerates the dangers he would put himself in just for his lover. The intentional listeners would be anyone who enjoys pop music.

    PERSONAL COMMENTARY:
In my opinion, Bruno Mars is a good singer. I enjoy listening to most of his songs, some of them give me the “feels”. This album was relaxing to hear because it had a mix of love and laughter. My favorite song in this album would be, Just The Way You Are, because I used to listen to it all the time when it first came out.

    Period 3
Sergei Rachmaninoff was a Russian composer, pianist, and conductor. In this piece he starts off with a slow solo piano, and then he soon brings in more instruments, that compliments the piano nicely. He is making the piano the main star of the piece, and having all the other instruments play around it. I think the purpose of the piece was to simply make good music, there was no intended audience, he just wanted to create music that people would listen to and enjoy.

    Personal Opinion
I think that this piece was quite nice, it showed a lot of emotion. The piece was recorded in 1929, the year that the stock market crashed, so this piece could have been made for how the people felt then.

  6. Category: Art
Rhetorical Precis: Salvador Dali, an artist, in his painting “The Persistence of Memory”(1931) at first glance the painting clearly personifies on the slowing or melting of the theme, time. An example of this is the various figures of clocks having a melting form. This shows how the artist is trying to convey the slow passing of time that everyone feels. Also the irregular forms such as the irregular figure on the right shows the artist attempt to confuse reality in his painting

Personal Commentary: I feel like this art really confused me at first because it looked like so many things were going on at the same time. Bot the more you look at the painting the more you understand that what the painting is conveying about time and its effects on reality.

  7. John G. Avildsen, in his sports drama “Rocky” , Rocky Balboa a small time boxer working as a dept collector gets a once in a life time shot when he has an exhibition fight against a heavyweight champion. Avildsen shows how Rocky gets a shot when no believes he can make even though he has a lot of talent. His purpose is to show that all it takes is one shot for someone to accomplish their biggest dream. His intended audience are athletes that are trying to make it to the pros and all it takes is one chance for you to show what you can do.
    Commentary:
This film motivated me because I have a dream of playing a professional sport and it made me realize that if I ever get a shot I will only come once and I have to make the best of it.

  8. Alejandra Figueroa

    Week 6
Vincent Van Gogh. The Starry Night. Saint Rémy June 1889 . “This morning I saw the country from my window a long time before sunrise, with nothing but the morning star, which looked very big,” In Vincent Van Gogh painting he describes how he sees his village from his own point of view. He says that this painting doesn’t mean death/sadness as many people thought by the colors he picked to color the painting. The big shine stars are a Symbol of energy and life. The artist’s purpose of the painting is Leaving behind the Impressionist doctrine of truth to nature in favor of restless feeling and the intense color. The audience for this painting is people and other artists.

    Personal Commentary:
I really love this painting by Vincent Van Gogh because it has a powerful message of how he views the world. The first time I seen this painting I thought the message meant sadness and death because of the colors he picked but after looking at it makes me think that the big bright stars means positive energy/life.

  9. Alonso Urciaga

    Jk Rowling, Fiction
Starts off by saying the history of the child and how his parents were killed, also in how he is very famous now.
The authors purpose is to show the kids reaction on facing new challenges in his life.
The author connects with the audience by showing the bravery in the little boy and how he really isnt scared of anything.
Personal Commentary I’ve finished this book already and started with the next one it starts off with a new mistery.

  10. Chidubem Muata

    Rhetorical Precis:
Quincy Jones, the producer of Michael Jackson’s Thriller album, talks about Michael’s personal problems he’s dealing with like his parents separating. Michael goes from talking about a girl in his life to talking about why people do the things they do. His purpose was to explain his trials in life and his thoughts about people’s actions. The intended audience is anyone who is a fan of Michael Jackson music or pop.
    Personal Commentary:
I personally am a fan of Michael’s music and always will be no matter what negative thing they have to say about him. He was one of if not the best singer and dancer of our time. My favorite songs in his album is Human Nature and Billie Jean.
